Common Plating Finishes for Textile Accessories

Nickel (Shiny Silver)

The most common finish, offering a bright mirror-like silver appearance. Excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Note: subject to REACH nickel release regulations for skin-contact applications.

Best for: General garments, industrial applications, non-skin-contact uses

Antique Brass (Vintage Gold)

A warm, aged golden-brown finish that evokes vintage and heritage aesthetics. Applied over brass base with controlled oxidation. Very popular for denim and leather goods.

Gunmetal (Dark Grey)

Measures corrosion resistance. Standard nickel plating typically lasts 48-96 hours; heavy-duty plating can exceed 200 hours.

Measures wear resistance through mechanical abrasion. Important for belt buckles, jean buttons, and other high-wear items.

Color Fastness to Washing

Simulates laundry cycles. Quality plating should withstand 50+ wash cycles without significant color change.
